The objectives of this contest are for amateurs around the world to contact as many VK shires as possible in the contest period.
VK amateurs are to work the world including VK, whilst the rest of the world can only work VK. Scoring is one point per QSO, with multipliers for each Shire or CQ Zone worked.
The contest is confined to ALL HF Bands available to Standard licensees, and the modes allowed are SSB and CW and stations can be worked once on each mode.
ROVER stations as well as portable entries make up part of the character of the VK Shires as well as the timing to take place over an East Coast Long Weekend.(Queens Birthday)
I advise those considering the contest to use software loggers such as VK Contest Logger. This slick piece of software knows the rules, leaving you to concentrate on making contacts.
The VK Shires is a 24 hour contest for all stations and all categories. You may participate for a shorter time, however everyone is considered a 24 hour entrant.
The VK Shire Contest runs from Saturday 11 June at 0600 UTC through to Sunday 12th June at 0600 UTC.
