20180311 - VK6WIA NewsWest news for Sunday, 11 March 2018

Post date: Mar 10, 2018 8:18:39 AM

In this edition of the news we look at 48 years of news history, the making and transmitting of the news that you're listening to right now. In case you're wondering, we've been at it since 1931, that's 87 years of news history and we're still at it today.

We'll also look at working satellites, world amateur radio day, a repeater update, the John Moyle Memorial Field Day next week, Foundations of Amateur Radio, the helpline and more.

Andrew takes a look at our regulator, currently called the Australian Communications and Media Authority, the ACMA and delves into some of the history surrounding the amateur licensing requirements back in 1979.

We have a quick update from the Radio Amateur Society of Australia and we'll squeeze in some meetings as well.
