20181111 - VK6WIA NewsWest for Sunday, 11 November 2018 - History of AR Edition

Post date: Nov 9, 2018 3:31:01 AM

NewsWest for 11th November is on Remembrance Day. A century ago, at 0600, the representatives of the countries involved signed the declaration that would end the war five hours later at eleven am. By a very fitting coincidence, today’s NewsWest programme is about the history of Amateur Radio, and we will regale you with tall tales and true of the history of our hobby. As the first broadcast of this bulletin goes to air at 0600 on Sunday, the WA Aamateu Radio News team will be at Blackboy Hill, taking a break in the VI6PAX activation to observe the commemoration of the centenary of signing of the treaty, to the sound of a piper playing “when the battle’s o’er”, a popular tune used for beating the retreat, or to sound the end of the day for soldiers within barracks.

So on with the programme - Ahead we’ve got Roy’s helpline, Dan has another interesting interview, and there’s some news from clubs about what they’ve been up to or are about to get up to.
