Bunbury Radio Club

Bunbury Radio Club

The Bunbury Radio Club covers the South West area of the state, but with members as far away as Exmouth, Kellerberrin and Nannup. Having members scattered so far apart creates some interesting communication problems that we are working to resolve. It is interesting to note that some of our more remotely located members are very active in club matters.

Club meetings are held on the second Saturday of each month. The Club operates and maintains two repeaters, 2M and 70cm (VK6RBY) near Harvey. Any South West based amateur (or anyone interested in radio or electronics) is more than welcome to join and participate in our activities.

The annual membership fee is only $25.00. Those wishing to join can contact the Club via our Secretary, Nick Evans on 0429 201 343, or vk6brc@wia.org.au.

The Club’s “Christmas” party is planned for 9 January 2016, most likely at Yarloop. Any member or non-member interested in the function should contact Dicko (VK6VRO). Overnight accommodation is available at a very reasonable price.

Amateur licence assessments are scheduled for 6 February 2016. At this stage we have seven applicants interested in sitting for their Foundation licences or upgrading to Standard.

2015 has been a good year for the club with a steady growth in membership and the development of a program of technical and amateur activities. The creation of an experimenters group has added an extra dimension to the Club’s capabilities. For 2016 we are looking to build on this progress with more technical talks and practical activities.
