NewsWest for Sunday 31st March.

Post date: Mar 29, 2019 12:00:07 PM

NewsWest is the news programme by, for and about Radio Amateurs. Usually we have a four weekly rotation of themes, but when there’s a fifth Sunday in the month we have a fallow week and so there is a mix of material. We have a couple of segments relating to the Australian Maritime College and assessments and assessors. There is Clive’s RAOTC announcement aimed at VK6 and of course Roy’s helpline. Dan has caught up with Phil VK6SO with a discussion about CW. There’s a reminder to let the team at the SEG know if you intend to go to the Katanning HamFeast, further details of the QRP hours contest, a revitalised VK6 perpetual trophy and a reminder that tomorrow is the first of April.

Hot off the press are congratulations to Brian who has just been granted VK6FBMA, what’s so special about that well he is the first call sign to have been allocated after completing his AMC assessments and processed by the ACMA, welcome to the hobby Brian.

Mike, VK6FMLS the latest author and contributor to Newswest and he provides us with a cautionary tale asking what is remote and what would you do in an emergency?
